Mosley discusses the future of the WRC

In order to ensure the future of the championship, still in limbo, Mosley hands over to the promoters: “It is up to them to propose a calendar and it will then be up to the FIA World Council to accept it or not. They find themselves in the same situation as Bernie Ecclestone in F1, although their influence on the calendar is less. » On this subject, the President reiterated his attachment to the system of rotation of rallies, with more races in winter: “We will have in the future perhaps 22 or 24 events which could claim to be included in the calendar. However, we only have 12 or 14 dates available per year, no more. With the rotation of the events, you can organize the events every other year. » As for the “cases” of rally of Monte-Carlo, it is up to the organizers to decide for themselves whether they want to join the IRC or the WRC. A word to the wise?

Just like in F1, the main watchword concerns cost reduction: “The biggest problem with the WRC today is its cost, and we don't want it to increase. » Max Mosley, for example, wants future cars entered to tend towards Super 2000 regulations, with just a few exterior modifications and engines not exceeding 8500 rpm: “If you put a super driver at the wheel of a Super 2000, it will remain faster than the others. At the side of the road you won't see the difference. »

Among its other proposals is the idea of a single engine, by 2013! An idea that hasn't stopped getting people talking about it?
