Nasser Al-Attiyah joins Citroën in WRC

Your AUTOhebdo magazine has mentioned this to you on numerous occasions, the news is now confirmed. Next year, three Citroën DS3s WRC Officials will be entered in the World Rally Championship, with Nasser Al-Attiyah joining Sébastian Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen in the fold of the double chevron firm. But on the Dakar to defend his title, the Qatari will not be able to be present at Monte-Carlo, the opening round of the 2012 WRC.

“I am happy to achieve what was both a dream and a sporting goal, admits the seven-time Middle East rally champion. We have worked a lot on this project in recent months and I thank Raouf Menhem for his involvement alongside me. I'm looking forward to getting to know the team better and testing the DS3 WRC. It is still a little early to set goals, but I plan to gain experience, not only from contact with the technical team, but also from drivers as talented as Sébastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen. I think I can get good results on the toughest rallies, like Greece for example. » After the announcement of the arrival of Petter Solberg at Ford this afternoon (see here), the world of WRC is currently in turmoil.
