Neuville held on in Argentina

Thierry Neuville takes his second consecutive victory by winning the Rally Argentina ahead of his teammate Andreas Mikkelsen. Sébastien Ogier takes the podium at the last minute.

Thierry Neuville wins for the second time Rally d’Argentine après sa victoire de 2017, obtenant son second succès consécutif après le Tour de Corse. Le Belge s’est imposé avec une bonne avance sur son coéquipier Andreas Mikkelsen qui offre le doublé à Hyundai.

Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) a complété le podium en profitant d’une crevaison de Kris Meeke (Toyota) dans la Power Stage. Le Nord-Irlandais s’est incliné pour 1’’4 alors que le sextuple champion WRC won the last bonus stage for a tenth ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota), followed by Thierry Neuville, Dani Sordo (Hyundai) and Ott Tänak (Toyota).

Jari-Matti Latvala a complété le Top 5 avec moins de 6 secondes d’avance sur Dani Sordo qui a perdu deux places dans la dernière étape en manquant de rythme. Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) se classe 7e devant Ott Tänak qui a repris Mads Ostberg (Citroën) sur le dernier parcours, le Norvégien s’imposant en WRC 2 Pro. Pedro Heller (Ford) complète le Top 10 en remportant le WRC 2.

Thierry Neuville will arrive at the Rally Chile in two weeks with a ten-point lead over Sébastien Ogier. Ott Tänak finds himself 28 points behind the Belgian. Hyundai also consolidates its leadership position in the Manufacturers' Championship by ahead of Toyota by 37 units, the Japanese brand having a 3-point lead over Citroën.
