In a very good position to play for the win with its three drivers in the lead after the first 5 specials, Hyundai will ultimately have been a victim of bad luck in Portuguese lands.

Errors and technical problems have not spared the i20sOtt Tänak, Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo forcing them to bow to the Toyota and in particular that of Elfyn Evans, who left Portugal with victory in his hands.

Heading for Sardinia and its gravel, Hyundai arrives on the Italian island with the firm intention of putting one of its drivers on the top step of the podium.

« Victory here in Sardinia is clearly our goal after missing the opportunity in Portugal, insists Andrea Adamo, team principal of the Seoulite structure. My team has worked a lot on these to prepare for these rallies and ensure that the i20 can fight at the front. ».

To achieve this, the Italian manager of Hyundai intends to rely on the good performance of his cars during the Lusitanian event last weekend (May 20 to 23). “ In Portugal, we showed that we had the necessary pace. We now need a problem-free weekend to confirm the results we are able to achieve ».

In Sardinia, Hyundai can pride itself on being efficient. The team led by Andrea Adamo has won there the last three seasons with two victories for Dani Sordo (2019 and 2020) and another for Thierry Neuville (2018). Enough to imagine the fight for new success on the gravel of the Mediterranean island.
