Sébastien Ogier wins a seventh WRC title

In seventh heaven. Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia offer themselves a seventh world crown in the best possible way, since they win the Rally of monza, final of WRC 2020.

The Estonian, who had a complicated start to the rally, gradually recovered to pass Dani Sordo in the last special. The Spaniard is 15”3 behind Ogier.

The Frenchman was in the mix from the start of the weekend. He won the first stage on Thursday, before fighting neck and neck with Dani Sordo for leadership. But to hope to become world champion, it took an error from Elfyn Evans, leader of the championship with 14 points ahead. The Briton had a perfect start to the rally, without shining but still placed. Up to the Fatal track exit during SS11, Saturday midday.

In dire conditions of mixed snow and rain, the Toyota driver was surprised in a completely frozen corner and ended his race in the trees. It was abandonment. Sébastien Ogier took the opportunity to take the lead in the championship, the situation was completely reversed.

Elfyn Evans had a chance this Sunday, but Ogier had to perform poorly and lose the lead of the rally. This was not the case, especially since Evans failed to shine in the final Power Stage.
