Sébastien Ogier wins in Sweden at the end of the suspense

Until the end, Andreas Mikkelsen, Sébastien Ogier et Thierry Neuville will have offered a fantastic spectacle on the roads of Rally of Sweden, second round of the World Rally Championship. With only 4″6 apart between the three men before the Power Stage, the suspense remained intact and without the partials indicated to the crews, the strategy was simple for everyone.

Et c’est Andreas Mikkelsen qui va craquer en partant à la faute dans la Power Stage, abandonnant plus de 40 secondes sur le scratch réalisé par Sébastien Ogier devant Thierry Neuville et Mads Ostberg, ces trois pilotes récoltant les points attribués. Neuville (Hyundai) termine en deuxième position finale à 6″4 d’Ogier alors que Mikkelsen termine finalement troisième à 39″8.

Ott Tänak place la première Ford Fiesta RS de M-Sport en quatrième position à plus de 2’25 du podium. L’Estonien devance la Hyundai i20 du Néo-Zélandais Hayden Paddon, excellent 5e sur une épreuve qu’il découvrait quasiment. Elfyn Evans (Ford) a réussi à maintenir Kris Meeke à distance dans la lutte pour la 6e place, suite à un tête-à-queue du pilote Citroën dans la Power Stage. Martin Prokop (Ford), Yuriy Protasov (Ford) et Mads Ostberg (Citroën) complètent le top 10.

En WRC-2, the Finn Jari Ketomaa won the category at the wheel of his Ford Fiesta R5 ahead of Norwegian Eyvind Brynildsen (Ford) and Ukrainian Valeriy Gorban (Mini JCW). IN WRC-3, the Norwegian Ole-Christian Veiby, the only one entered in the category, won. Note that Frenchman Stéphane Lefebvre made a mistake following a puncture this morning and was unable to restart.
