Tänak maintains lead at Wales Rally GB

Ott Tänak retains the lead of Wales Rally GB ahead of Sébastien Ogier and Thierry Neuville. The provisional podium remains grouped in around ten seconds.

The battle at the front remains tight at Wales Rally GB. At midday of the second stage, Ott Tänak (Toyota) conserve la tête de l’épreuve en disposant de 7 secondes d’avance sur Sébastien Ogier (Citroen). Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) s’est emparé de la 3e place face à Kris Meeke (Toyota) pour revenir à 2 secondes du Français tandis que le Nord-Irlandais évolue à plus de 4 secondes du Belge.

Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) complète toujours le Top 5, mais le Norvégien est désormais poursuivi par Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) revenu à moins de 5 secondes. Le Gallois a été l’homme fort de la matinée puisqu’il a remporté les 3 spéciales. Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) pointe à bonne distance de son coéquipier suite à une crevaison sur le dernier parcours.

Pontus Tidemand (M-Sport) climbed to 8th place taking advantage of the misfortunes of Craig Breen (Hyundai). The Irishman rolled over on SS12 and lost around 5 minutes. He was able to continue despite a damaged car which did not suffer mechanically.

Kalle Rovanperä (Skoda) regained the advantage in WRC 2 Pro with a good lead over his teammate Jan Kopecky who encountered problems. Pierre-Louis Loubet (Skoda) maintains the lead in WRC 2 but is only 1”5 ahead of Petter Solberg (Volkswagen). Adrien fourmaux (Ford) remains on the provisional podium in the category.
