Tänak maintains his lead at Rally Germany

Although Ott Tänak dominated the first loop of the second stage of the Rally Germany less, the Toyota driver maintained his lead over Sébastien Ogier. In difficulty, Thierry Neuville was taken over by Jari-Matti Latvala.

Tänak maintains his lead at Rally Germany

Ott Tänak (Toyota) n’a plus signé de scratchs depuis son impressionnante série de la veille dans la première boucle de la deuxième étape du Rally of Germany, but the winner in Finland maintained Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) à plus d’une douzaine de secondes, le quintuple champion du WRC even clocking in at 14 seconds at midday.

Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) s’est progressivement fait rattraper par Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) qui s’est hissé sur le podium provisoire dans la dernière spéciale de la boucle pour un dixième d’avance sur le Belge. Le leader du Championnat est désormais menacé par son coéquipier Dani Sordo qui pointe à moins de 2 secondes de la première i20 WRC.

Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) took over Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) who was lacking pace this morning to find himself 6th. The loop ended for the Welshman who went off the road in SS10, becoming the first WRC driver to retire from this event.

Elfyn Evans' mistake benefited Craig Breen who finds himself 7th after giving Citroën the first scratch this weekend. The Irishman precedes Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) and Teemu Suninen (M-Sport), while Mads Ostberg (Citroën) has returned to the Top 10 and is now less than 7 seconds behind the Finn.

 

Following the punctures of Jan Kopecky (Skoda) and Yoann Bonato (Citroën) in SS9, Éric Camilli (Ford) finds himself leading WRC 2 with 23 seconds ahead of Kajetan Ketanowicz (Ford). Fabio Andolfi (Skoda) completes the top three in the category for less than 6 seconds ahead of Kalle Rovanperä (Skoda). Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) follows the young Finn by half a second.

The second loop of the 2nd stage should begin at 15:08 p.m. with the second passage of the Arena Panzerplatte.
