Toyota arrives in Türkiye after conclusive tests for the Yaris

In just two editions, the return of Rally of Turkey in 2018 has built a reputation as a tough and unforgivable event in the World Rally Championship (WRC). Les concurrents du Toyota Gazoo Racing ne s’y trompent pas avant de se rendre sur la cote de Marmaris, base de l’événement.

The leader of the general classification Sébastien Ogier keep good memories with victory over Citroën in 2019More “repeating such a result will not be easy”, admits the Gapençais, co-piloted by Julien Ingrassia. “Open the road (at the start of the rally) will be a big challenge, that’s for sure.

But I'm curious to see what we can achieve with the Yaris WRC. We carried out tests ahead of this meeting, which proved conclusive. I think we've made some good improvements to the car. »

His teammate Elfyn Evans is his direct pursuer in the championship before the last three rounds. “Turkey will provide a contrast to Estonia, the previous rally. The fast tracks will be replaced by slow-paced stages. It will be very hot and will be physically very harsh for the crews, specifies the Welshman.

We must be ready and face it. We did some testing in Greece a few weeks ago and the car performed very well. We hope to transfer these good feelings to the rally. »

The third thief of the Japanese team, Kalle Rovanperä, for his part does not set too high a goal. “I'm usually not comfortable with rough conditions like we see on Rally Turkey. I only did Turkey in WRC 2 last year, I have little experience in this type of event. »
