WRC: Promising debut for Mini

Dani Sordo and Kris Meeke, the official Mini drivers, proved that the car developed by Prodrive had good potential to take the first places. Dani Sordo finished in a satisfactory 6th place while Kris Meeke managed to place himself in the first 3 times before having to retire following a failure of his accelerator.

David Richards, the director of the English structure which takes care of the Mini JCW, is confident about the future of the team. “ I think we showed that the car is efficient », comments David Richards on wrc.com. “ We have proven that we can do it, we have laid the foundations. »

The accelerator problem on Kris Meeke's Mini JCW was the only cloud in the Rally from Sardinia for Prodrive, but David Richards knows that the beginnings are never perfect. “ I hope Kris (Meeke) can repeat what he showed us in the first stages », adds the Briton. “ If he had continued like that, we would have finished in a very strong position. But it’s life, it’s the job that comes in. We still have to learn. »
