WRC / ERC – The Skoda Fabia R5 is revealed again

Since 2009, the S2000 version of the Skoda Fabia has successfully traveled the roads of various national and international rally championships. In 2014, the Finn Esapekka Lappi was notably crowned European Champion at his wheel ERC. But the time of succession is approaching for the venerable S2000 which will give way next year to the R5 version, in development for many months and which will inaugurate the new 1,6 liter turbo engine.

“The approval of the Skoda Fabia R5 is planned for mid-2015. » explains Michal Hrabánek, director of Skoda Motorsport. She will have to face her colleagues already lined up this season, the Peugeot 208 T16, Citroën DS3 ou encore Ford Fiesta, avant que Hyundai n’entame éventuellement un programme R5, comme l’expliquait the Team Principal of the Korean team Michel Nandan.
