The Ford Fiesta RS WRC will not be the only one to adorn themselves with new products au Rally from Portugal played from May 21 to 24. Its little sister R2 has also been reworked by M-Sport which installed a new 1.0l 3-cylinder Ecoboost engine approved according to the new regulations reserved for the R2 category. Its debut will be within the framework of Drive Dmack Fiesta Trophy.
If the displacement is low, the engine still develops 180hp and 250Nm of torque. Developments also concern the gearbox, suspension, roll bar, electronics and braking system. The aero package has been corrected to match the lines of the latest touring models.
“We have always been the forerunners in introducing new concepts and new technologies. Our close relationships with Ford allowed us to do the same with the Fiesta R2”, comments Malcolm wilson, the director of M-Sport. “We were the first to launch an R5 and we are still the first to launch a 1.0l car in accordance with the new regulations which allow such cars to run in R2. Engineering is getting stronger at M-Sport and we are very proud of it. »
