WRC – Tänak: Wilson was courageous to take me back

Ott Tänak achieved a superb performance at Rally of Poland by taking third place after a close duel against Jari-Matti Latvala. It's almost a relief for the Estonian who experienced a slump in 2013 after being dismissed by M-Sport at the end of 2012 and whose last podium went back to the Sardinia Rally of the same year.

“I’m sure this is the first event where I’ve been competitive”, declared Ott Tänak at a press conference after the finish of Rally Poland. “The start of the season was difficult. I had a sabbatical year and the level of WRC continues to increase. I retired in Sardinia when I was 3rd and found myself on the podium. It means a lot to me. »

The young 27-year-old pilot knew regain the confidence of Malcolm Wilson, the director of the British team, and is delighted to have been able to return the favor. « Malcolm was brave to give a wheel to someone who hadn't driven for a year (Ott Tänak played in the Estonian Championship by winning Group N). He knew me since 2012 when I had problems, but he believed in me. I have great respect for him and I am indebted to him”, underlined the Estonian.
