Luca di Montezemolo gave the start of this 77th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. On pole at the end of the flying lap, the Peugeot n°8 driven by Franck Montagny retained its first place and attacks this double clock tour in the lead, ahead of Pedro Lamy (Peugeot n°7), who got the better of Allan Mc Nish (Audi R15 n°1).
On the second lap, the No. 908 Peugeot 9 HDi FAP driven by Alexander Wurz also overtook Allan Mc Nish.
