Walter Treser, former head of Audi Sport, dies

The former German director of Audi Sport has died at the age of 81. Walter Treser was initially the engineer at Audi since 1977, before becoming Jürgen Stockmar's successor in 1981 as rally program director. It attracted Hannu Mikkola, Finnish world champion driver. Rally in 1983. “Under the leadership of Walter Treser, Audi Sport began to become the force that still shapes international motorsport today, says Julius Seebach, Managing Director of Audi Sport. He played a key role in the development of Quattro all-wheel drive and the first major successes of this technology in motorsport.”
