Surprise at Le Mans with the ACO's decision to authorize engine changes following official testing on Thursday evening. A decision apparently motivated by the fear of seeing the competitors stay a minimum of time on the track for fear of breaking their mechanics and being forced to start from the last row and having to suffer a penalty of 3 minutes to observe during the first four hours. On the other hand, the organizers were afraid of finding themselves faced with a cascade of retirements during the first hours of the race with engines overloaded during the official tests.

This will delight spectators assured of significant traffic on Thursday with a spectacular Audi-Peugeot for a prestigious pole position. We can still regret that this decision comes just one week before the 24 Hours.
