The Japanese ??Monster?? Tajima won the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The Suzuki SX4 rider completed the legendary Colorado climb in 10:15:368. Marcus Grönholm, co-driver for the occasion, set a more modest time with his Ford Fiesta, in 11:28:963. It should be noted that the world champion WRC was competing in this event for the first time, while Nobuhiro Tajima is a regular. Three drivers (Paul Dallenbach, Jimmy Keeney, Spencer Steele) having been inserted between the two men, Marcus Grönholm finished fifth in all categories combined. In the “unlimited” category, he placed second behind Tajima.
