While the history of 24 Hours of Le Mans is celebrated during the tenth edition of the Le Mans Classic, the Sarthe event lost one of its most distinguished representatives this Saturday, July 2. Alain de Cadenet died at the age of 77.
Born in London on November 27, 1945, Alain de Cadenet was the son of Maxime de Cadenet, lieutenant in the French Air Force, who became a Free French filmmaker. Alain de Cadenet specializes in competitionsEndurance with 15 starts at Le Mans between 1971 and 1986. His best result was obtained in 1976 on a Lola that he had prepared with Chris Craft, also died in 2021. Together, they finished on the third step of the podium. His last feat dates back to 1990, when he won the Carrera Panamericana in Mexico at the wheel of a Jaguar.
