Following the free practice sessions held on the Castellet circuit, as part of the first round of the 2020 European season Le Mans Series, Oreca, official supplier of the engine for the new generation of LMP3, has noted a problem with gasoline range that risks affecting the cars' ability to complete the entire race with three refuelings. It was therefore decided by the College of Sporting Stewards (Bulletin n°2 below) to impose an additional mandatory pit stop for this race.

To avoid being confronted with the same situation during the second event of the season at Spa-Francorchamps, on August 9, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, promoter of the European Le Mans Series, expressly asked Oreca to solve this fuel consumption problem as quickly as possible.
