David Pittard confirmed by Aston Martin

Aston Martin announced this Monday, January 24 the appointment of David Pittard to its roster. The British driver makes his debut with the Gaydon brand at the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 29-30) in the GTD category with the NorthWest AMR GT3. The native of Hertfordshire will also celebrate his 30th birthday during the double tour of the Florida clock. David Pittard will also be lined up in WEC alongside Canadian Paul Dalla Lana and Dane Nicki Thiim this season.

“I am excited and proud to have signed for Aston Martin Racing, said David Pittard. My goal is to win the biggest GT endurance races and with Aston Martin I have the platform and machinery to achieve this. I'm looking forward to the challenge of adapting to a new manufacturer, new championships and new tracks, but Aston Martin Racing is one of the best organizations in the business so I'm confident it will happen quickly. Having teammates like Paul and Nicki – one of the fastest GT drivers on the planet – will definitely help. »

Aston Martin also announced that Roman De Angelis will receive financial support from the brand, after graduating first in the Aston Martin Racing Drivers' Academy 2021. A reward following his category victories in IMSA last season alongside Ross Gunn.

“It is an honor to have been recognized by Aston Martin for my performances last season, De Angelis said. I am proud to have been chosen from such an exceptional group of drivers. Graduating from the Academy is a good marker for my career, and now it is important to build on that in 2022 with the Vantage GT3 in IMSA and repay the trust that AMR has placed in me. »
