Daytona – FP2: Mazda takes control

After a disrupted first free practice session, Mazda set the record straight. Aboard the No. 24 RT55-P, Jonathan Bomarito set the best time in Free Practice 2 by completing a lap in 1'34"672. The Canadian, who shares the wheel with Harry Tincknell and Olivier Pla, was ahead of the No. 0 Cadillac DPi-VR from Albuqerque-Barbosa by 711Conway-Fittipaldi and 0 »866 the Nissan Onroak n°54 of Braun-Bennett-Dumas-Duval.

The top five is completed by the Acura ARX-05 from Castroneves-R. Taylor-A. Red and the Juncos Racing Cadillac driven by Canapino-Owen-Kaiser-Binder.

In GTLM, the Porsche 911 RSR n°911 conserve l’avantage. L’auto de Tandy-Pilet-Makowiecki (1’43 »475) précède la Corvette C7.R n°3 de Magnussen-Garcia-Rockenfeller and the No. 67 Ford GT of Briscoe-Westbrook-Dixon. There Ferrari No. 62 from Risi Competizione is fourth, while the BMWs bring up the rear, but less than a second behind the class reference time.

Finally, the Ferrari 488 GT3 of Spirit of Race entrusted to Dalla Lana-Lamy-Lauda-Serra achieved the best performance in the GTD in 1'45"936 ahead of the No. 3 Acura NSX-GT86 of Farnabacher-Hindman-Marks -Allmendinger and the #3 Mecedes-AMG GT33 from Bleekemolen-Keating-Stolz-Fraga.
