2019 will see theIMSA clearly separate the DPi and LM P2 categories, the two having been brought together and provided with a common Balance of Performance this season. However, American officials had confirmed an identical schedule for 2019, but reversed their decision in recent days.

This is evidenced by a reduction from ten to eight rounds in the program for next year for teams wishing to field LM P2 prototypes on the other side of the Atlantic. The Long Beach (California) and Detroit-Belle Isle (Michigan) rounds are impacted by this modification.

“With the start of the season in 50 days, it is important that we share these revisions so that our competitors can evaluate and plan based on this revised sporting strategy for the LM P2 class. » says IMSA President Scott Atherton.

As the series emphasizes, the goal is to strengthen the interest in a category by offering controlled costs for a class intended to highlight Pro-Am crews.
