Giedo van der Garde penalized after qualifying
The qualifications of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023 will not leave a pleasant memory for Giedo van der Garde (Oreca). The Dutch driver received a penalty for not slowing down sufficiently under red flags:

“Due to a penalty during qualifying, we start from 7th place in the Pro-Am category of LM P2, but the sanction is too severe in my opinion, judged the one who shares his wheel with Roberto Lacorte and Patrick Pilet within Graff Racing. I had to slow down from 300 km/h to 80 km/h and I didn't do it fast enough – which could have resulted in a dangerous situation. Fortunately, the race will be long…”
