Roar Daytona – Qualifying: Tristan Vautier takes pole position

The Roar qualifying session at Daytona took place on a wet track this Saturday, January 22 at the International Speedway. With four minutes to go, while Tristan Vautier was in first place for JDC-Miller Motorsport, Renger van der Zande crashed into the barriers with the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac DPi, causing a red flag. The Frenchman kept the best time and allowed Cadillac to take pole position after three test sessions dominated by Acuras. Tristan Vautier beat Wayne Taylor Racing's Filipe Albuquerque by 0.122 seconds and Alex Lynn in the No. 02 Chip Ganassi by 0.225 seconds.

Ben Keating set the best time in LM P2 with PR/1 Mathiasen Motorsport in 1:37.296. He beat teammate Steven Thomas by 0.637 seconds. In LM P3, Cameron Shields set the benchmark mark in 1:42.494 with the No. 08 Muehlner Motorsports America Duqueine D26.

The drivers will meet at 1 o'clock tonight for a fourth and final Free Practice session. The 100-minute race determining the grid for the 24 Hours of Daytona will begin this Sunday at 20:05 p.m. French time.
