A second trophy for WRT at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The trio Robin Frijns, Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi of car number 31 of the WRT team won the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Sunday after a final lap where the sister car, the number 41 of the crew formed by Louis Délétraz, Robert Kubica and Yifei Ye, retired while heading towards victory in the LM P2 category. A first success for the Belgian team in its first participation, already followed by a second trophy. WRT was indeed rewarded with the Prix d'Endurance Sustainable awarded by the ACO, the FIA WEC and DHL. This award designates the team providing the most effort in reducing CO2 emissions linked to the transport of materials and people, and logistics from garages to race tracks as well as contribution, participation and development of initiatives innovative social or environmental projects that create a positive impact and added value for their local communities.

The team is notably associated with the “Drive Fast, Act Faster” campaign of its driver Ferdinand Habsburg. An initiative made to achieve “carbon neutral” races. “ Racing has taken me around the world, and lately I've started to realize that I need to take more responsibility and set other goals than just winning and driving at the limit. These days we see a lot of series moving towards electric powertrains, but the majority of the motorsport community is still passionate about combustion engines. It’s something that is strongly rooted in the DNA of motorsport. If we continue our wasteful behaviors, it will lead to a point where we will have no choice but to use electric motors, unless we are able to transform our gasoline-powered motorsport into a more sustainable form . This could save the future of motorsport as we know it, allowing the next generations to have the privilege of enjoying motor racing as much as we do today.", explains the 24-year-old Austrian, also winner of the double clock for his first participation.
