There was only one lap left to complete before finishing this 70th edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona. In the lead, Mathieu Jaminet (Pfaff Motorsports) closely followed by Laurens Vanthoor (KCMG). The latter tried everything to regain first position. But in the following turns, the Porsche touch each other. Vanthoor goes off the track while his French rival stays on the circuit and secures his victory.
The Belgian driver leaves his 2nd place behind Ferrari by Alessandro Pier Guidi but still climbs onto the third step of the podium. At the end of the 24 Hours of Daytona, the two drivers shook hands amicably as a sign of respect. A muscular start to the season which heralds an exciting championship.
