At the cost of an overtake that will undoubtedly cause a lot of talk, Ricky Taylor allows Wayne Taylor Racing to win the 2017 edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona.
The driver of the No. 10 Cadillac DPi-VR, associated with Jeff Gordon, Jordan Taylor and Max Angelelli, overtook the other No. 5 Action Express Racing Cadillac of Filipe Albuquerque in the final minutes, making contact and sending the Portuguese into a spin. The latter, however, saves second place with his teammates Joao Barbsosa and Christian Fittipaldi.
The podium is completed by the Multimatic-Riley Mk.30 Gibson n°90 of VisitFlorida Racing of Rast – Goossenss – van der Zande. Performance Tech Motorsports easily won the event in the PC category with the No. 09 Oreca FLM38 of French – O'Ward – Boulle – Masson.
The fight in GTLM was intense until the end, and Ford, with the GT n°66 of Müller – Hand – Bourdais l’emporte devant la Porsche 911 RSR n°911 de Pilet – Makowiecki – Werner et la Ferrari 488 n°62 Risi Competizione de Calado – Fisichella – Vilander.
Porsche wins in GTD with the No. 911 3 GT28 R of Carlos de Quesada – Michael de Quesada – Daniel Morad – Jesse Lazare – Michael Christensen.
