Chase Carey, new boss of the F1 after the acquisition of the discipline by Liberty Media, will give the start of the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans tomorrow at 15 p.m. Pierre Fillon, president of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest confirmed the information this morning during the ACO press conference, currently underway at the Sarthe circuit.
The American will take over from Brad Pitt, who kicked off the 2016 event. “I am delighted that Chase Carey immediately agreed to be the 2017 Starter, comments Pierre Fillon. This symbolizes a new start for new relationships between our organizations, which have been facilitated by Jean Todt, President of the FIA, with whom we are partner for the World Championship.Endurance (FIA WEC).
The ACO has always promoted strong values which place passion, performance, automotive history and the popular dimension of endurance as the driving forces of its action. With Chase Carey at the helm of F1, the time has come to work together on certain subjects such as the sporting calendar, offering the best of all shows to all fans so that they fully follow the two major disciplines of motorsport what are F1 and Endurance”.
