Richard Westbrook will take the wheel of theAston Martin Official Vantage n°98 in GTE-AM during the 8 Hours of Bahrain, final of the WEC. Third of 24 Hours of Le Mans in GTE-Pro, the Briton will make his second race with Aston.

The appointment of Westbrook makes up for the unavailability of Darren Turner and Augusto Farfus, who have priority in the car. They are selected for the 12 Hours of Sebring in IMSA. Westbrook will accompany Paul Dalla Lana and Ross Gunn.

“After Le Mans, I feel like I have enough driving to feel at home in the car. Bahrain is one of my favorite circuits and I won my first race there in a GT in 2005,” responded Westbrook.

The #98 Aston Martin once again suffered its Le Mans curse by retiring for the sixth time in eight appearances. The disappointment prevents him from playing for the title against the Ferrari AF Corse n°83 and the Aston Martin TF Sport n°90.

The crew still wants to score a first victory this season, for the sake of honor. “When it became clear that neither Augusto nor Darren were available, Richard was an obvious choice, he knows the car very well. » said Paul Dalla Lana. “For our part, we have had pace and performance all season and I think we deserve a victory. »

The 8 Hours of Bahrain will take place on Saturday November 14.
