Famin: “A 100% new car”

Peugeot presented last Thursday the new lioness who will defend the interests of the Sochaux manufacturer during the 2011 endurance season. A new car despite the similarities it has with its predecessor.

“The regulations have certainly evolved a lot but we did not start from a blank sheet, explains Bruno Famin, technical director of Peugeot Sport. Our experience over the past four years has helped us in our decisions and orientations but in the end, only a few elements such as the wiper blade remain the same! One of the main difficulties consisted of designing a 100% new car while operating another in parallel. Another big difficulty was car synthesis. We had to set the right objectives to ensure good consistency between engine performance, aerodynamic characteristics and weight centering. We will only know the validity or otherwise of our choices during the first races! »
