Pastor Maldonado (Oreca 07 n°31 – DragonSpeed) violently hit the tire barriers at the Tertre Rouge corner, causing the safety car to come into action.
The Venezuelan got out of his car alone, the American team's LM P2 was running in 4th place before this accident.
