Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), who stamped his F10 during the third free practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix (see video), could not take part in the qualifications, scheduled from 14 p.m. While the Scuderia suspected damage to the gearbox, the chassis was damaged and the Spaniard will not be able to race this afternoon.
If his participation in the Monaco race is not called into question (the regulations do not require him to take part in qualifying), he will have to start from the pit line on Sunday. Suffice to say that his hopes of victory are reduced to nothing.
