Pirelli has announced the tires chosen by the teams for the Malaysian Grand Prix from the medium, soft and super-soft ranges. Unsurprisingly, the mediums are neglected with one train per driver except Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), Kevin Magnussen (Haas F1) and Marcus Ericsson (Sauber).
The use of soft tires remains variable between two trains for Williams et McLaren, up to 5 for Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), Romain Grosjean (Haas F1) and Pascal Wehrlein (Sauber).
This therefore leaves 7 sets of super soft tires for Mercedes, Haas and Sauber, 8 for Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull), Force India and Toro Rosso, 9 for Verstappen, Ferrari et Renault, and finally 10 for Williams and McLaren who are going all out with aggressive choices.
