Maro Engel wins Macau qualifying race after pile-up

The German Maro Engel (Mercedes) won the Macau GT Cup qualifying race this Saturday, November 19. Author of the second fastest time in practice, the Craft-Bamboo Racing driver obtained pole position on the green carpet following an infraction by poleman Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes) during the warm-up lap procedure.

The event was marked by a spectacular pile-up at the first corner, involving four drivers: Min Heng (Porsche), Adderly Fong (Audi), Darryl O'Young (Mercedes) and Cheng Cong Fu (Audi). The red flag was waved but no injuries were reported:

Starting from the pit lane, Edoardo Mortara found a way to get back to the foot of the podium despite the winding nature of the Macau circuit. Raffaele Marciello (Mercedes) and Ling Kang (Porsche) complete the podium. The Sunday race will take place at 6:15 a.m. Paris time.
