The qualifying race for the opening round of the FIA GT1 world championship in Abu Dhabi has just ended, with the victory of the duo Frédéric Makowiecki-Maxime Martin, at the wheel of the No. 41 Ford GT. The Marc VDS Racing Team team is ahead of a trio of Nissan GT-Rs. The JR Motorsport crews Richard Westbrook-Peter Dumbreck and Lucas Luhr-Michael Krumm completed this first podium of the year.
After somewhat complicated qualifying, the French team Hexis Racing moved up the rankings. L?Aston Martin n°3 of Clivio Piccione and Stef Dusseldorp passing under the checkered flag in fifth position, four places ahead of the sister car of the Andrea Piccini-Christian Hohenadel pair.
Meet at 19:45 p.m. (16:45 p.m. French time) for the championship race.
