For the first round of the “Round of 8”, third phase of the Playoffs, Kyle Larson inherits pole position. The driver of the #5 Chevrolet Camaro will start at the Texas Speedway ahead of Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch of Joe Gibbs Racing. Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano for Team Penske complete the Top 5
Larson will certainly return with pleasure and delight to this track which last June gave him a prestigious victory and a nice check for a million dollars during the All Star Race.
Nicknamed the “Great American Speedway”, the 1,5 mile (2,41 km) track, inaugurated in 1996, includes 4 turns inclined at 24°. 334 laps are planned for a total race distance of 500 miles (804,50 km).
First segment: 105 tours
Second segment: 105 tours
Final: 124 tours
The inaugural round of 1997 was won by Jeff Burton who would do it again 10 years later. Kyle Busch is the record holder for active victories with 4 victories in 2013, 2016, 2018 and 2020.
