Kyle Larson on pole position at Richmond

The first row shared Saturday evening by Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin at the start of the 28th round will have a scent of revenge for the Darlington event. The two most prominent drivers this season will be keen to shine and succeed Alex Bowman, victorious in the April race, the first of the two rounds contested this season on the Virginia track.

The race weekend taking place again without testing in application of the COVID protocol, it was a clever calculation combining the position of the driver and his team in the general classification, and final classification and best lap of the last race which determined the grid.

The race promises to be lively on this spectacular 0.75 mile (1,2 km) short track that the drivers will have to cover 400 times.

First segment: 80 laps
Second segment: 155 laps
Final: 165 laps

The first race there was won by Lee Petty in 1953. His son, “King” Richard Petty is the record holder for victories with 13 trophies.
