The DTC (Deutsche Tourenwagen Challenge) will rise from its ashes across the Rhine in 2022. This championship is reserved for cars equipped with a 1,6 L displacement and turbocharged engine. These vehicles belong to segment B with models like the DS3, the Peugeot 208 or the Hyundai I20 ou encore la Ford Fiesta. « This championship will be seen, for young people who wish to access touring car, as a bridge between the karting and the TCR », explains Franz Engstler, one of the instigators of this new program. A bit like the Touring Championship in France, the DTC could have more international intentions, if a promoter decided to give this new discipline a chance (in support racing for the TCR Europe or the WTCR).
