On August 20 and 21, the FIA GT3 European Championship will stop in Russia, on the Smolenskring circuit. Located 300 km west of Moscow, this route was designed by Herman Tilke. 3,362 km long, 15 meters wide and with 13 bends, it is supposed to offer numerous overtaking opportunities.

“We are proud that the FIA GT3 European Championship is the first international motorsport discipline to take place in Russia, declares Stéphane Ratel. This is a new milestone for this championship and SRO. The opportunity to drive in Russia, one of the most important markets for sports and luxury cars, is truly great. The GT3 round in August is just the first step in our relationship with Russian promoters, with plans to bring the FIA GT1 world championship to Russia in 2012.
