Supercars relocates the start of the season

In Australia, we are not taking any risks with the health crisis. Due to the numerous contaminations and the high circulation of Covid-19, the city of Newcastle, theater of the first round of the season (March 4 to 6) of the Supercars, announced the postponement of the meeting to a later date in 2022.

Thereby, Sydney Motorsports Park has been selected to host the entire Supercars to launch the 2022 campaign. The date, however, is maintained, namely March 4 to 6. The organization has also confirmed that this first meeting of the year will take place at night.

This is not the first time that SMP has been a backup solution for Supercars. After an interruption of 3 months between July and September 2021, the Australian championship resumed its course on this same circuit for 4 consecutive race weekends.
