In the midst of current events on numbers in F1, there is one that will make a big splash in the United States. Indeed, the Richard Childress Racing team has unveiled its cars for the 2014 season and the famous number 3 will be back in the first series of the NASCAR, the Sprint Cup Series. And it will be an emotional moment when Austin Dillon, driver of the RCR Chevrolet SS, starts the Daytona 500 next February.

This number was in fact that of the legend Dale Earnhardt Sr, who tragically died in the last corner of the 500 Daytona 2001. As is often the case in Uncle Sam's country, the number was retired some time later, and no one had it until taken over, including Dale Jr, son of the seven-time champion. Dillon's car will therefore be particularly observed on the Florida oval, scene of the opening round of the 2014 NASCAR.
