Romain Grosjean finished second in the qualifying race in Abu Dhabi, during the first round of the GT1 World Championship. Romain Grosjean and Thomas Mutsch, in the No. 5 Matech Competition Ford GT, finished second, behind the Corvette Z06 of polemen Andreas Zuber and Marc Hennerici. The former Renault driver F1 Team was incredible, coming from eleventh place on the starting grid to the front.
Reigning champions Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels finished in third place with the No. 12 Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC1.
This qualifying race, which is not very generous in terms of points, makes it possible to establish the starting grid for the so-called “championship” race. However, the winning crew will be penalized by ten places on the starting grid for this race due to non-regulatory weight.
