Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai) a décroché la pole de la Course 1 du WTCR à Vila Real (Portugal). Le pensionnaire du BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse a bouclé un tour du circuit urbain en 1’59’’498 en devançant son coéquipier Augusto Farfus de près de 3 dixièmes. Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co) a suivi en 3e position devant Rob Huff (Volkswagen), tandis que Ma Qing Hua (Alfa Romeo) had time to place himself in 5th place before suffering a puncture at the end of the session.
Aurélien Panis (Cupra) placed in 7th place between Nicky Catsburg (Hyundai) and Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen). Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi) took 12th position ahead of his compatriot Yvan Muller (Lynk & Co). The leader of the classification Esteban Guerrieri (Honda) only set the 19th fastest time.
The session was interrupted several times, mainly following contact with the barriers.
