The organizers of the Nascar confirmed this Monday the addition of a fourth race segment for the longest event of the season, the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte (North Carolina), on May 28. The race will therefore be divided into four parts of 100 laps.

With the new sporting regulations introduced this year in the American series, the championship events are now divided into three segments, each earning bonus points for the first ten drivers in the ranking.

“The race segment format provides more dramatic moments throughout an entire race, fueling some exciting events this season, said Steve O'Donnell, executive vice president and head of racing development at Nascar.

With a fourth segment added to the Coca-Cola 600, this historic event will benefit from another layer of strategy for the teams, and even more excitement for fans during the race. »
