James Courtney has been taken to hospital in Sydney, Australia, for examinations following an incident on the sidelines of the V8 Supercars event this weekend. The 35-year-old Australian was hit in the ribs by debris moved by a military helicopter during a demonstration, before being treated on site and then at the medical center. An investigation by V8 Supercars officials and the Royal Australian Navy is ongoing.

Courtney missed the final free practice session, replaced in the Holden Racing Team's Holden Commodore by Jack Perkins. A few minutes ago, a communication from officials indicated that Courtney suffered a pneumothorax and two broken ribs and withdrew. Perkins will therefore be lined up for the rest of the weekend.
