VIDEO – He loses the victory fifty meters from the finish

Takeshi Kimura is likely to remember this Race 2 in Sugo for a long time, and not necessarily for the right reasons. So at the head of the last meeting of the weekend on the Japanese circuit and with a good margin ahead of his first pursuers, the driver of the Ferrari 488 GT3 No. 777 of CarGuy Racing encountered technical problems on the last lap.

Forced to slow down at the risk of not reaching the finish, Takeshi Kimura saw his lead over Satoshi Hoshino (Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 No. 47 from D'station Racing) and Tomohide Yamaguchi (BMW M4 GT3 from PLUS with BMW Team Studie) reduce considerably. He then told himself that he had a sufficiently large margin to win. Well no ! As he passed the last stop on the Sugo circuit, Kimura flashed his headlights to celebrate his victory but it was still too early to do so!

Driving at low speed as he approached the finish line, Takeshi Kimura saw Satoshi Hoshino and Tomohide Yamaguchi slipping past him less than fifty meters from the checkerboard! Result ? 3e position and no victory in Race 2 of the GT World Challenge at Sugo. So you should never celebrate too early...
