The Nissan NISMO SUPER GT team announced this Monday morning, December 20, the death of its director Yutaka Suzuki. The chief engineer of the development of the GT500 died at the age of 56 following an illness. After joining the company in 1990, Suzuki was in charge of developing vehicles for Group C and the Japan Touring Car Championship (JTCC). It largely contributed to the 3rd place on the podium for the Nissan R390 GT1 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1998 as engineer for car #32. Since 2009, he was at the head of the NISMO SUPER GT team, which won the series in 2014 and 2015.
