After learning about the new version of the Zandvoort track on Thursday, the thirty drivers couldn't wait to take on this famous banking and this old school track, steering wheel in hand. Some had already had the opportunity to drive there in Formula Renault last year. And the route confirmed what we imagined: it only takes a small error to make a mistake. Ayumu Iwasa (Hitech) got a big scare coming out of the banking, while Tijmen Van der Helm (MP Motorsport) was trapped a little further away at the end of the session, triggering a second red flag.

While Trident thought it had put its three drivers in the top 4 of the session four minutes from the end, the last run redistributed the cards since it was the young American Jak Crawford (Hitech) who signed the best lap of the session, ahead of the ART Grand Prix duo Alexander Smolyar (+0″1) and Frederik Vesti (+0″1). First Frenchman on time, Clément Novalak (Trident) finished 5th, just ahead of his teammate Jack Doohan. The two men are hot on the heels of championship leader Dennis Hauger (Prema), 4th (+0″1). For his part, Victor Martins (MP Motorsport) finished 8th in the session (+0″4).
