For an introduction, we have still had it simpler. In pouring rain, the pilots of F3 started their racing weekend for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in a perilous and delicate manner. However, it was the Frenchman and championship leader Victor Martins who set the best time at Imola, amid a slew of yellow and red flags, followed by Isack Hadjar.
Martins and Hadjar already at the forefront
The session was only short-lived for the young upstarts of Formula 3. Obviously, in such conditions, it is difficult to string together laps without a car going off the track or getting a slight fright. We note, among other things, the departures from the track of Jak Crawford and Josep María Marti, without consequence. But the same cannot be said of Ido Cohen, David Schumacher or the two MP Motorsport teammates, Caio Collet and Kush Maini, collateral victims of the rain obviously, but whose cars were unable to free themselves from the gravel traps.
In total, the most daring drivers were only able to complete around ten laps, like Victor Martins and Isack Hadjar (+ 0'034), who already monopolize the first two places in the momentum of their great performances in Bahrain – victory in the Sprint Race for Hadjar, in the Long Race for Martins.
The qualifying session, scheduled for 15 p.m. this Friday, promises to be one of the most intense at Imola.
