New Zealander Marcus Armstrong was fastest on the first day of FIA pre-season testing F3 on the Hungarian route of the Hungaroring.
The Prema Racing driver set the benchmark time in 1'31″411, achieved during the afternoon session, and ahead of Leonardo Picini (Hitech GP) by 153 thousandths, the Italian having dominated the morning's driving. Jehan Darvula (Prema Racing) completes the top three after the two sessions, ahead of Robert Shwartzman (Prema Racing) and Niko Kari (Trident).
Sebastian Fernandez (Campos Racing), stopped at turn 6, Alex Peroni (Campos Racing), made a mistake at turn 11 and hit the barriers and Yuki tsunoda (Jenzer) had caused the neutralizations of the morning while Jake Hughes (HWA), stopped at the exit of the pits, Shwartzman, immobilized at turns 11 and 12, led to the deployment of the red flag in the session after the break.
